1,000 miles in three days...

The trip started at the Mono Lake Bird Chataqua. This was my first time at this fun little festival and I truly am grateful to the organizers for inviting me to lead a butterfly trip. I explored the Mono Lake area and then headed across Nevada trying to arrive at Bryce Canyon National Park at a reasonable hour (I didn't).
On Route 6 in Nevada a really fun thing happened... I saw about 30 groups of ten wild horses each, while stopped enjoying my first wild horse encounter a male pronghorn walked right up to the fence in front of the horses I was photographing. Then I noticed a very startled badger right in front of my car. What a magical experience. Even the cop who tried to give me a ticket for going 27 MPH in a 25MPH zone didn't rob me of the smile from the experience. I think he was frustrated that my day wasn't ruined so he let me go with a warning. ;-) I will look up the name of the town so the rest of you know of that rotten little speed trap.
Today I spent the day in Bryce Canyon, Grand Escalante Staircase and Capitol Reef National Park. More later...

Finally on the Road

Good Morning,
It is four a.m. on Saturday and after a lot of housekeeping physically and electronically, I am finally ready to hit the road.
First stop will be Mono Lake east of Yosemite National Park. Today will be spent enjoying the sights.
Unfortunately, the blog will be less active since AT&T lied and the air card is not available on a Pay as you Go basis, even if you own the card they insist on a year contract. I will contact the CPUC and the FCC about this terrible business practice.
So, I may be online only at hotspots, which for most of the trip will be few and far between.
Working on a more workable solution...
See you all soon.

fun blogs to visit...

While I am on the road, I have friends who will be simultaneously adventuring across the western U.S. Follow their adventure at http://cassityfamilyadventure.blogspot.com.
Also, I will post occasionally to two other blogs if there is a topic that suits those missions.
